What to Know About the Georgia Runoff
The 2022 U.S. Senate race in Georgia went to a runoff election, in which Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock defeated Republican candidate Herschel Walker.

Under Georgia election law, runoff elections are held when no candidate wins the required majority of votes in the general election. Because neither Warnock or Walker secured at least 50% of the vote, the top two candidates faced off in a second election held four weeks after Election Day.
Warnock and Walker's runoff election took place on Dec. 6, 2022. Though a majority vote was not required to win the runoff, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock won 51.7% of the vote, securing his spot as Georgia's Senator.
