Everything to Know About Virginia’s 4th District’s “Firehouse” Primary

Why Is There An Election for Virginia’s 4th U.S. Congressional District?

After VA-04’s Representative Don McEachin passed away in late November 2022, Governor Youngkin ordered a special election to fill his seat on February 21, 2023.

Before that election can be held, each party will select a candidate to represent it. These candidates will be selected through a “Firehouse Primary,” which is a contest funded and overseen by a local political party organization

The December 20th Democratic Firehouse Primary is where the Democratic nominee will be selected.
