Voting on Election Day

• On Election Day, vote at your assigned polling place. Find your polling location using the Polling Place Finder on the PA Voter Services website, or by contacting your county election office.

• Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you are in line by 8:00 p.m., you are allowed to cast your ballot.

• Most voters do not need to show ID at their regular polling place. ID is required only if you are a first-time voter at a new polling place. See the "What to Bring" section below for accepted forms.

• When you arrive, you will check in with poll workers, then either hand-mark a paper ballot or use a ballot marking device. You can preview your county's voting system at Voting System Demos.

• If your name is not in the poll book or you believe there is an error, you have the right to vote a provisional ballot. Your county election office will determine if it can be counted.

• Important: If you requested a mail ballot, you cannot vote on Election Day at your polling place using the regular voting system. If you did not complete your mail ballot, bring it — and its outer return envelope — to your polling place to surrender it, then vote on the county's voting system.

Voter Registration

• The voter registration deadline for the November 3, 2026 General Election is Monday, October 19, 2026. Applications must be received — not just postmarked — by this date.

• You can register:

  • Online at PA Voter Services (requires a PennDOT ID number or the last 4 digits of your Social Security number).

  • By mail — download the Voter Registration Application, complete it, and mail it to your county voter registration office so it is received by October 19.

  • In person at your county voter registration office or at a PennDOT driver's license center, public library, armed forces recruitment office, or other government agency.

  • If you already registered, you do not need to register again unless you have changed your name, address, or political party.

  • Check or update your registration at PA Voter Services or call 1-877-VOTESPA.

What to Bring to the Polls

• Pennsylvania does not require photo ID for most voters. ID is required only if you are voting at a polling place for the first time. If ID is needed, accepted forms include:

  • Photo ID (any of the following):

  • Pennsylvania driver's license or PennDOT ID card

  • ID issued by any Pennsylvania Commonwealth agency

  • ID issued by the U.S. Government

  • U.S. passport

  • U.S. Armed Forces ID

  • Student ID (including digital/electronic)

  • Employee ID

• Non-photo ID (if no photo ID is available):

  • Voter registration card or confirmation issued by your county election office

  • Non-photo ID issued by Pennsylvania or the federal government

  • Firearm permit

  • Current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government check showing your name and address

How to Vote by Mail

• The last day to request a mail-in ballot is Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

• The deadline for on-demand in-person mail ballot voting is 5:00 p.m., October 27, 2026. Check your county election office website for specific hours and any additional satellite locations.

• Do not bring your mail ballot to your polling place. Completed mail ballots can only be returned to your county election office or an official drop box — not to a precinct polling place.

• If you received a mail ballot and decide to vote in person instead, bring your mail ballot (and outer return envelope) to your polling place, surrender it, and then vote on the county voting system. If you no longer have your mail ballot, you may vote by provisional ballot at your polling place.
